The North Queensland region is an ideal tropical area with richness in people and resources. Its growth can be attributed to its diverse areas of commerce and tourism. It encompasses communities from Charters Towers in the west, Ayr to the south, and Ingham at its north. From Townsville, each of these towns is located within an approximate 1½ hours drive in each direction.
Our region is characterised by diverse landforms and natural environments. In the low lying coastal plain there are a number of rivers, creeks and freshwater wetlands. Hills and mountains rise out of the coastal plan, creating distinctive landmarks. The west is marked by the distinctive “Aussie bush” landscape. Townsville is the largest city in North Queensland and one of the fastest growing cities in the state.
There are 14 churches in the North Queensland Region. The Region has a real connectivity and support between the churches. Though diverse in our worship styles, the unity of the ACC pastors continues to grow. The transient nature of our population gives great opportunity for evangelism and training people towards a mission focus. We see an optimistic opportunity to continue expanding the faith community through evangelism and the work of Holy Spirit and raising emerging leaders.
